It was conducted via the Internet on Sina.com, one of the largest portals in China, and it lasted 40 days (August 22 at the end of September 2004). The questionnaire was completed by 31,482 women, but the web page of the survey was read by 40,000 people. This survey aimed to ascertain the current situation of the sex lives of Chinese women in the cities to analyze their behavior and psychology in this area, and finally, to draw attention of society on women’s problem.
The importance of sex life
Sex has long been a taboo subject for the Chinese. There are tens of years, for the latter, the main purpose of marriage was procreation. Sex was a topic that people, especially women, would not talk openly. This conception of sex still exists in areas undeveloped rural China. Yet for young urban women, these ideas about marriage and sex are unimaginable and unacceptable. They have the courage not only to talk about sex, but also to express or suggest their desire, rather than remain silent and to submit to the will of their partner. Such women represent 90.6% of those surveyed. Furthermore, 47.3% of women dare to politely refuse sex when they do not want. Women have their right to own sex life, a right equal to that of man. That’s why the quality of sexual life of women is obviously high, and 87% of people said they experienced orgasm. The results of this recent survey are quite different conclusions than some experts had drawn after an investigation last. According to these, eighty percent of Chinese women did not understand the meaning of orgasm.
Women give importance to increasing sex life in marriage. A proportion of 93.8% of recent estimates that sexual life is very important, while only 6% of them find that it is not essential or that it is not important. The quality of sexual life in marriage, which once ranked third, after the material life and having a child, now occupies the first place. Few people still maintain a loveless marriage because of children or other reasons. As another result, the survey also shows that 74.1% of women have resorted to masturbation. Improve the quality of sexual life
According to survey results, 87% of women experience pleasure in their sex life. The number of women who experience frequent orgasms represents 47.5% of the total women surveyed, and those who have never known represent only 5.6% of the total, also, 54.1% of those surveyed had claimed to have confidence in their sexual ability. In all cases, the proportion of women who had experienced orgasm is 82.5% (figure obviously superior to other groups? (That obtained in other surveys?). Among these women, 49 , 2% achieve orgasm with a partner, 9.7% masturbation and 35.6% in both cases, a figure that represents 94.5% of total respondents to the question on the subject. L orgasm is the fundamental criterion for the quality of sexual life. The result of the survey shows a proportion so high that it is difficult to believe.
Based on data from another survey, conducted four years ago, Pan Naimin, professor of the Renmin University, concluded: “In terms of enjoyment by orgasm, the man gets 62, 5 marks out of 100 on average, while the woman only gets as 38.6 “. According to Professor Pan, because the woman does not experience orgasm, sexual intercourse has much less value and meaning for man. This is why so many Chinese women suffer from frigidity sexually. They are fleeing sexual life, even refuse, even revolt. For the same reason, in such a past life under duress, women have much pain and anger and even nourish ideas of revenge. This survey was conducted by Professor Pan in urban and rural areas of China. This time, the result of the survey among urban women should truly reflect their current situation. Sex is not the prerogative of marriage
Over 90% of women surveyed were aged 21 to 49 years, 80% hold a university degree and live in large cities like Beijing, Shanghai and Chongqing. Among those surveyed, 55% are married women. A large proportion of single women are sexually active. Of these, those who admit to having a sexual partner represent 75.5% of the total number of singles. Moreover, the question “Do you have extramarital sexual activity”, 8.3% of married women admitted that they often have, and 32.4% of them reporting having ever had. These percentages, especially the latter, are much higher than those obtained during an investigation last: 7% and 13%. However, we noticed one thing has not changed from the previous survey: more than half of women have never had any extramarital sexual activity (59.2%).
Of course, the greater sexual freedom is rather an improvement over the traditional mentality closed. However, the growth rate of family and social problems caused by cohabitation and extramarital very concerned specialists. In recent years, according to statistics provided by the Women’s Association of Guangzhou City, the cases of bigamy, illegal cohabitation and extramarital affairs are trending upward each year: 246 cases in 1999, they moved to 882 in 2001.
Chinese women are they frigid?

In previous years, people with no sexual activity represented only 6.2%. This survey has allowed the Internet to know the current status of the sex lives of Chinese cities. It is said that the overall situation gives cause for optimism and is improving. For women, a busy sex life is rooted in an integral freedom, equal rights family and social rights and of women, financial independence and self-confidence.
